It all comes back to writing, for me. My first passion was the written word.
I spent my childhood buried in books; drifting from the reality in my home to distant worlds with unique characters. I started writing in high school — poems and short stories at first, then autobiographical essays. And when I went to college, I wrote for the newspaper and interned at music magazines, in hopes of turning my love of writing into a sustainable career.
My professional path began in journalism, writing for my favorite publications. It’s a chapter I’m proud of, as it allowed me to explore storytelling in a direct and unfussy medium, and brought me closer to the artists I loved. In the years since, I have dipped back into journalism and copywriting when particularly inspired by a moment, subject, or brand.
